CAST Project (ASA)

Commercialization of Aquaculture for Sustainable Trade (CAST).

Regional Solutions Co. Ltd conducted an aquaculture produce Value Chain Analysis (VCA) for the Commercialization of Aquaculture for Sustainable Trade (CAST) Cambodia project. The study aimed at the objectives of:

  1. To understand the interactions between the key players within freshwater value chains;

  2. To explore opportunities for creating value addition across the value chains; and

  3. To identify the key challenges facing and possible solutions for the value chain actors in creating the value addition.

Tourism, Fisheries and IT Value Chains in the Republic of Maldives

Regional Solutions Co. Ltd. Managing Director U.W. Schmidt served as International Senior Fisheries Expert in the context of a study on “Tourism, Fisheries and IT Value Chains in the Republic of Maldives” on behalf of the Islamic Development Bank Office in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Deliverables included the mapping the value chain of fisheries in the Maldives, analysis of the value chain activities and performance, identification of constraints and development opportunities and definition of development project interventions, as a contribution to the Bank’s global value chain analysis titled “Making Markets Work for Development through Global Value Chains”.

Horticulture Farm Produce and Market Access

Regional Solutions Co. Ltd. Managing Director U.W. Schmidt provided advisory services and support to the overall efforts of Netherland’s Development Organisation (SNV) to develop a country strategy to define sound opportunities to foster horticulture cash crops by small and medium farms in Cambodia. Initially, the assignment was to focus on the specified sub sector “Horticulture Farm Produce and Market Access”; in the course of consultancy, the original specification was changed to “Smallholder Cash Crops , Production and Market Access Opportunities”, following the change of terminology by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery (MAFF). The geographical focus of the study included the provinces of Stung Treng, Kratie, Kampong Cham, Kampong Speu, Takeo, Svay Rieng, Kandal and the areas in the vicinity of Phnom Penh.
